All you need to know about aviation scholarships

The academic field of aviation encompasses various educational and training paths in order to enter this exciting industry. Two important ones that are popular are aviation management and avionics technology. Read below to learn more about this area and the world of aviation scholarships.

Avionics maintenance and technology are often offered at the certificate or associate degree level. In these programs, you will learn about avionics systems while learning installation, integration, onboard tests, and troubleshooting methods.

These programs are generally used to prepare graduates for entry-level positions with banking technicians in the aerospace industry. They are often offered at universities of applied sciences or community colleges. Among other things, this leads to lower tuition fees for you than most 4-year colleges or universities.

Another avenue in this area is aviation management. Here you learn the art and science of flight operations and service management. While training in professional administrative positions in the aviation industry, you will learn the technical and administrative skills required to be successful in this area. These programs can be found at the certificate, associate, and degree levels. Only a few distance learning programs are offered.

Graduates from aviation scholarships management or an avionics technology program will likely find employment with nearby airlines and airports. Other potential employers include federal and state governments, aircraft manufacturers, flight simulation companies, and delivery companies such as UPS or Fed-Ex.

The job prospects for aviation positions are not that strong. The U.S. Department of Labor Statistics reports that aerospace mechanics and avionics technicians will see a 6% increase in jobs by 2020. This is slower than the average of all professions. This slow growth will largely be due to the outsourcing of maintenance work to other countries. Job opportunities are best for those with a degree and for those who want to move.
